Individual Profile

Throughout her graduate training in counselling in the United States, Dr. Ng was taught and supervised by academic professionals who are also licensed therapists. For almost two decades, she has been using her knowledge in counselling to facilitate individuals and couples in Hong Kong, China, Macau, Thailand, Canada, and the United States to explore ways to deal with vicissitudes. Her pastoral care training and practice in Hong Kong and the United States add value to the way she helps people confront their grief issues.

In recent years, a growing number of Dr. Ng’s clients are teenagers and young adults. As she looks back on her dialogues with young persons, she could feel their genuineness in expressing the way they perceive others and the world. She also noticed their efforts in making positive changes and nurturing openness.

In therapy, modalities Dr. Ng gravitates towards are evidenced-based, such as cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness therapy. She uses existential-humanistic therapy and other post-modern approaches, depending on clients’ style and nature of problem. In crisis counselling, she attends to the person’s dire needs of care, attention, and presence prior to administering formal risk assessment.

Dr. Ng helps youth, adults, and couples navigate a wide range of mental health challenges and adverse life transitions, including anxiety, depression, grief, and sleep quality.
