Heiki is one of a few registered child psychologists in Hong Kong who works with very young children (0 -6 years old). She has extensive experience in working with children with developmental, emotional, and behavioral challenges. She also works closely with caregivers and offers parenting and behavioral management training to support caregivers of children with various needs. Heiki obtained her bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology in the University of Hong Kong and her master’s degree in Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Broadly, her interests surround promoting mental health in infants and young children, and healthy and secure attachments between children and their caregivers. She adopts a client-centered, strength-based and collaborative approach in her work, hoping to empower children, as well as parents and caregivers in believing their strengths and potentials. Heiki completed her clinical training at a Harvard Affiliated Teaching hospital — Boston Children’s Hospital, Early Intervention Department, which is ranked the top pediatric hospital in the United States. Upon her return to Hong Kong, she has been providing consultation, therapy, and training for young children with developmental, emotional, and behavioral challenges as well as their caregivers, using evidence-based approaches and protocols, such as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the Social Thinking Curriculum. She is also a certified Newborn Behavioral Observations (NBO) system™ practitioner, in which she also has experience working with newborns and parents. She is currently obtaining her full certification in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.
